Abstract
Real gender equality is that every human being, both men and women, have the same conditions and opportunities to realize their rights and potentials in full without discrimination. Gender equality can be realized with gender justice. The purpose of this research is to know the level of understanding of gender equality in learning activity and activity of play at elementary school children in community of Rumah Pintar Bangjo Johar. The method used qualitative descriptive method with phenomenology approach. The location of research in Rumah Pintar Bangjo Johar Semarang. Results the analysis techniques used by Miles and Huberman. The results showed that gender equality in learning activities visible when questioning and argument but daily picketing activities and the election of class leaders occurred gender inequality. On the other activities when the division of seats and the division of teacher groups become the fairest divisor. While in the activities of play appear when playing together and the selection of games. Implication in this research is expected counselor can give understanding related to understanding of gender to child so that can explore the potential that exist in him. Materials that can be learning to improve an understanding of gender equality such as skills and courage in questions and opinions, collaborate with classmates without differentiating between boys and girls, selection of study groups, leadership and interaction with peer group.
