Abstract
Kesulitan membaca adalah suatu gejala kesulitan dalam mempelajari komponen-komponen kata dan kalimat sehingga mengalami kesulitan dalam memproses informasi seperti kemampuan dalam menyampaikan dan menerima informasi. Peneliti telah melakukan studi pendahuluan pada 4 SD yaitu: SDN Bulusari, SDN Karngasem 1, SDN Karangasem 2, SDN Prampelan di Kecamatan Sayung Kabupaten Demak pada kelas III yang masih mengalami kesulitan membaca. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan persentase. Hasil temuan di setiap SD siswa- siswi belum mampu membaca suku kata, kata dan kalimat dengan lancar. Pehaman siswa terhadap huruf abjad masih kurang , perhatian orang tua yang rendah serta IQ anak yang rendah. Rata-rata cara membaca siswa tersebut masih mengeja, karena kesulitan mengenal huruf abjad. Hal tersebut terkendala karena memiliki history IQ yang rendah.

Abstract: Difficulty reading is a symptom of difficulty in learning the components of words and sentences so that difficulty in processing information such as the ability to convey and receive information. Researchers have conducted a preliminary study on 4 elementary schools, namely: SDN Bulusari, SDN Karngasem 1, SDN Karangasem 2, SDN Prampelan in Sayung District Demak Regency in class III who still have difficulty reading. The type of research used is qualitative with descriptive approach and percentage. The findings in each elementary school students have not been able to read syllables, words and sentences smoothly. Pehaman students to the letter of the alphabet is still lacking, the attention of parents are low and low IQ children. The average way of reading the student is still spelling, because of the difficulty of knowing the letters of the alphabet. It is constrained because it has a low IQ history.
