Abstract

This research aims at developing a child-friendly education intervention model implemented at Elementary School of Secang I and Junior High School Tempuran I, Magelang Regency. This research is a Research and Development (R & D) introduced by Borg and Gall (1989: 784-5). The population is all parents of those two schools and 20 people were chosen randomly as a sample. The data were collected by using observation; and in-depth-interview. The results show that: 1) in general, understanding of parents on child rights in their perspective is raising a child to obtain a better life in the future by providing adequate food, clothing, shelter, health, and education. Attention on adequate nutrition and healthy food and giving the opportunity to have recreational need, and other psychological needs are still limited by some parents. Their understanding of health issues and education is good enough; 2) some parents do not understand well that verbal abuse is a form of violence against children. They do not understand children's rights and protection of violence against children, including the legal protection of children; 3) the intervention model developed is School-Student-Parents Forum.
