Abstract


Cases that is happening for children in Indonesia, such as kidnapping, murdering, sexual assaulting, child abusing need special attention for parents and teachers. Delivery education need to be done for characters, attitudes, and perspectives of children can be formed. One kind of the delivering education is by tales. But, unwittingly tales contain the essences of gender bias closely related to knowledge of sex. The Problem in this research is whether in this book “Dongeng Nusantara 33 Provinsi”published by Hi-Fest contains gender bias or not. Objectives in this research is to describe the gender bias in the book. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive method. The data in this research is a tales and the source data in this book “Dongeng Nusantara 33 Provinsi”published by Hi-Fest. Based on the analysis of this research data through the description, found gender bias in the book. Gender bias is demonstrated through characterization, dialogue, and narration depicting characters. The conclusion of this research is the existence of gender bias are contained in this book “Dongeng Nusantara 33 Provinsi”published by Hi-Fest. The gender bias resulted marginalization of gender inequality, subordination, stereotypes, violence, and the double burden.
