Abstract


This research is motivated by the impact of globalization and the technology that makes information easily accessible to the public, not only adults but also children. The use of technology freely without supervision accompanied by parents and teachers will affect the students' character. During these facts demonstrate freely due to the use of technology more towards the negative. Education acquired in school students also affect the character of the students. Changes made to make the students' curriculum as students in character. In the 2013 curriculum more emphasis on the achievement of the character values ​​in students.The type of this  research is descriptive qualitative data. Subjects of this research were the fifth grade teachers (one teacher) and fifth grade students (36 students, 20 male, 16 female). Data collection techniques used were: observation, interviews, and documentation are processed and examined using triangulation techniques for checking the validity of the data. Then the data were analyzed by means of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.The results showed a 18-character value that is contained in the book Student Class V Environmental themes Our Friends. Eighteen value of these characters are (1) Religious, (2) To be honest, (3) tolerance, (4) Discipline, (5) Work Hard, (6) Creative (7) Independent, (8) Democratic, (9) curiosity, (10) national spirit, (11) Love homeland, (12) Appreciating achievements, (13) Friendly, (14) Love peace, (15) Fond of reading, (16) Care for the environment, (17) Care social, (18) Responsibility. The results of the implementation of the value of the character that is implemented in schools to be incorporated into the activities that significantly affect students' character.
