National character is an important aspect in the quality of human resources due to its contribution to the nation’s progress. As a set of values, character is not taught, but instead it arises through nurturing and constructing of behavior. Therefore, character education has gained significance in building the character of the future generation. This paper proposes a model of character building for students Universities. University has 3 (three) responsibilities that include building, empowering and constructing an exceptional character in daily life. The process of designing the model for character education was initiated with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and a workshop to specify the valued culture and its cultivation in students’ activities, both curricular and extracurricular. Through these activities, the model for character education proposed is designed within the grand scenario of education in University.
