Abstract


The study on developing character education through teacher’s progressive learning of lesson study in SMP N 3 Semarang has the objective to induce a character education based on lesson study for the science teachers’ association (IPA MGMP) in Semarang. The research began with a study on the implementation of character education in schools. Then literature and field study. Proceed in lesson study with the plan, do, and see on the learning to measure the teaching effectiveness as a means of character development. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that lesson study can bring fun and active learning which is to improve students’ involvement and learning outcomes, and create hands-on activity-based learning and daily life. Lesson study provides opportunities for teachers to learn how to learning and about teaching. In addition, it can be used to develop character education in schools.
