Abstract


The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of science literacy aspects of knowledge and competence / process on interaction theme. The research was conducted on three junior high schools in Purbalingga which represents high, medium, low grade. Science literacy ability of knowledge aspect and competence / process is measured by using evaluation instrument based on science literacy in the form of 18 multiple choice. The ability of science literacy is analyzed from aspects of knowledge and competence / process. This research uses mixed methods sequential explanatory. The quantitative data is analyzed by parametric statistics and qualitative data is analyzed by using triangulation. The result of research shows that students' science literacy ability of knowledge aspect is categorized as "enough" with score percentage 66,85%; Aspect of competence / process belonging to “less” category with score percentage 57,50%. In improving students' science literacy skills, science teachers needs to pay special attention through practical learning methods and provide based science literacy exercise evaluation to students.
