PKM Business Group of Plastic Waste Handicraft at Krobokan village West Semarang Sub-district Semarang City Central Java Province

Abstract


Plastic waste, primarily packaging, becomes the largest waste that is produced by households, food and beverage marketers. This garbage cannot be decomposed by the soil so it will become soil pollution. Waste management is really important to be paid attention by the community. The urban area of Semarang contributes the largest waste, not least the area of Krobokan Village, West Semarang District. Partners involved in this Community Partnership Program Activity (PKM) were two UKM  Koelon Kalie Craft  and UKM  Rizky. Partners' problems which were priority issues that have been determined jointly between PKM proposer team and partners were grouped into three aspects, namely the aspect of production, business management and marketing where those three aspects were interrelated. PKM activities that had been performed were to provide assistance in production process equipment, training on waste processing techniques, training on business management including financial bookkeeping, entrepreneurship motivation workshop, workshop and mentoring to process plastic packaging waste into various types of handicrafts that have high selling value and help with marketing through websites, Facebook, Instagram, leafet making, participating in exhibitions and online promotions.With this PKM program, it is expected that the partners involved can improve the quality and productivity of the plastic packaging waste that has the value to improve the economic income for the welfare of his life and create a clean and healthy environment especially for the citizens of Krobokan Village.
