Abstract


This research aims to describe the effectiveness of cooperative learning model type STAD and type GI in saintific approach and compare them both in terms of interest and mathematical communication of student grade VIII. This research was a quasy experiment with pretest-posttest non equivalent group design. The research population were students of grade VIII in SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan. The research sample were students of grade VIII A and grade VIII C who were randomly selected. The instruments used to collect the data were questionnaire of learning interest, mathematical communication test and sheets of learning. Data were analyzed by one sample t-test and paired sample t-test with significance value of 5%. The results showed that: 1) cooperative learning model type STAD in saintific approach is not effective in terms of interest and mathematical communication of student grade VIII on statistics subject; 2) cooperative learning model type GI in saintific approach is effective in terms of interest and mathematical communication of student grade VIII on statistics subject; 3) cooperative learning model type GI in saintific approach is more effective than cooperative learning model type STAD in saintific approach in terms of interest and mathematical communication of student grade VIII on statistics subject. The things that were suspected to be cause of cooperative learning model type STAD was not effective was there an unfulfilled main activities and the implementation of learning mathematics was not continuousable.
