Abstract

The school has a strategic role to prevent violence against students. Schools play the role not only in building theoretical academic values but also in the application and implementation of moral values. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of violence prevention for elementary school students through comics. This research was conducted by using R & D. The subject of the research is the second grade students of SDN 2 Sekaran and those of SDN 2 Ngijo Gunungpati Semarang. In this research the data sources used were the subject of research, informants, and documents. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. To analyze the data Spradley’s qualitative research phases was used. To check the validity of the data triangulation technique was used. The results show that the implementation of violence prevention through comics for elementary school students performed effectively. It was proved by the change of the student attitudes based on the results of assessment instruments, observations and the interviews. The problem is that in order to change the student attitudes requires a long process and time. Time limit of the students being at the school resulted in a lack of oversight that teachers do. It also takes consistency from all parties concerned. The conclusion is that the success of violence prevention in schools is determined by the participation of all parties, namely the family, school, and community.
