Fungsi utama bahasa adalah sebagai alat komunikasi. Oleh sebab itu, tujuan utama belajar bahasa adalah untuk mencapai kompetensi komunikasi. Dalam KTSP, kompetensi tersebut dikemas dalam empat aspek yaitu menyimak, berbicara, membaca dan menulis. Keempat aspek tersebut, secara kumulatif disajikan dalam bentuk materi teks atau wacana. Secara konseptual, setiap buku ajar akan menuntun ke arah tujuan yang optimal. Namun demikian, ada sinyalemen yang menggambarkan bahwa pengajaran bahasa daerah di sekolah dasar belum mencapai kompetensi komunikasi atau kompetensi berbahasa . Salah satu penyebabnya adalah minimnya pengawasan kosa kata. Untuk menjernihkan persoalan tersebut, pada tulisan ini akan dieksplorasi materi ajar yang ada pada Buku Pelajaran Bahasa Bali “Dharma Sastra” dengan fokus pada materi teks atau wacana dengan menerapkan perspektif linguistik sistemik fungsional sebagai dasar lahirnya kompetensi komunikasi.

Abstract

The main function of a language is for communication. Therefore, the main purpose in learning a language is to achieve the competence of communication. In the KTSP ‘Education Unit Level Curriculum’, the competence covers four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Those four skills are commutatively presented in text or discourse materials. Conceptually, every handbook will lead optimally to achieve the goals. However, there are some indicators showing that teaching learning of Balinese has not achieved the communicative competence or language skill competences because of the lack of vocabulary mastery. To solve the problems, this article tries to explore teaching materials on Balinese handbook of ‘Dharma Sastra’ with focuses on text materials by applying Systemic-Functional Linguistic perspective as a basic for achieving communicative competence.
