Pembelajaran Cerita Wayang dengan Menerapkan Metode Story Telling Menggunakan Gambar Berseri Kreasi Siswa SMAN 1 Wonosobo

Abstract


Salah satu materi pelajaran Bahasa Jawa SD hingga SMA adalah cerita wayang. Pada tataran SMA, kegiatan pembelajaran materi ini antara lain menelaah teks, membuat sinopsis, dan menyajikan cerita. Disayangkan apabila pembelajarannya tidak dilaksanakan dengan baik, padahal di dalamnya terkandung banyak nilai kehidupan. Alternatif metode pembelajaran yang bisa diterapkan adalah story telling bermedia gambar berseri karya siswa. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsi (1) penerapan metode pembelajaran story telling bermedia gambar berseri kreasi siswa (2) variasi gambar berseri karya siswa, (3) keunggulan dan tantangan pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data berupa proses pembelajaran dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sumber data adalah siswa dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penerapan metode story telling bermedia gambar berseri bisa mengaktifkan siswa saat pembelajaran. Terdapat variasi gambar berseri buatan siswa: garbuk (gambar buku), garlung (gambar gulung), garlik (gambar balik), garpel (gambar tempel), garmof (gambar modifikasi). Keunggulan pembelajaran metode ini antara lain mengaktifkan siswa, mengembangkan kreativitas, melatih percaya diri, tanggung jawab, bekerja dalam tim, berkomunikasi, serta menghargai dan mengapresiasi. Pada pembelajaran ini guru harus bisa memotivasi siswa untuk bekerja keras dalam berlatih dan menyiapkan media, memberi contoh, serta membuat suasana kondusif saat kegiatan pembelajaran berlangsung. Selain itu, siswa juga diajak untuk bekerja keras menghasilkan karya berupa media bantu bercerita serta dituntut untuk komunikatif dan kreatif dalam penyampaian cerita.

Abstract

One of the The Javanese language subject from elementary to high school is the story of wayang. For Senior High School level, learning activity of this material include reviewing the text, making synopsis, and presenting the story. This learning material would be unavailing if it didn’t implemented properly, whereas it’s contained many values of life. Alternative learning methods which can be applied is story telling with image media pretense from student. The purpose of the research is to describe (1) the learning application method of story telling with creative image made by students (2) the variation of series picture made by students (3) the advantages and challenges in learning. This using descriptive qualitative methods. Data in the form of learning process collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The data sources are students and teachers. The result of the research shows that application of story telling method with series picture media can activate the students during learning activity. There are variation of picture series made by students: garbuk (gambar buku), garlung (gambar gulung), garlik (gambar balik), garpel (gambar tempel), garmof (gambar modifikasi). The advantages of learning using this methods include activating students, fostering creativity, practicing self-confidence, responsibillity, teamwork, communicating, and respect to another. In this learning, teacher should be able to motivate students to practice dilligently and prepare for media, giving examples, and create conductive atmosphere when learning activity take palce. In addition, students also invited to work hard in making creation such as assist story media and demanded to be communicative and creative in story telling.
