Abstract


The aims of this research and development are to determine the effectiveness of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based on Authentic Task to improve Science Process Skills (SPS) of elementary school teacher education students. The research and development method applied to the development learning tools that implement the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based on authentic task. The findings show the average value of the students pretest was 65.38 with the highest score 75.00 and its lowest value was 50.00. The average value of the student’s posttest results was 87.26 with the highest 92.00 and the lowest 85.00. Based on the analysis of the average value calculated that pretest and posttest of science process skills enhancement followed student results obtained n-Gain value of 0.63 which in the medium criteria, however in the classical 100% of students have completed. The questionnaire response or answers of the students' to HOTS learning based on Authentic Task obtained mean score 3.83, which in a good answer, which means students give positive response to the Authentic Task learning based on HOTS.
