Abstrak

Self-esteem menjadi perhatian yang sangat penting karena berhubungan dengan sejumlah faktor kehidupan, salah satu diantaranya kesuksesan siswa di sekolah. Siswa dengan self-esteem tinggi cenderung percaya diri dalam situasi sosial yang dihadapi dan percaya diri dalam menangani tugas-tugas yang diberikan oleh guru. Selain itu, siswa dengan self-esteem tinggi tersebut akan mempertahankan rasa keingintahuannya secara alami dalam belajar serta memiliki semangat dan antusias ketika menghadapi tantangan baru. Sebaliknya, siswa dengan self-esteem rendah justru menghindari situasi dimana situasi tersebut berpotensi membuat dirinya merasa malu dihadapan orang lain. Siswa dengan self-esteem rendah cenderung lebih memilih dihukum atau mungkin dipandang sebagai seorang jagoan oleh teman-temannya dibandingkan terlihat bodoh.

Self-esteem dapat dilatih melalui beberapa kegiatan selama pembelajaran matematika berlangsung. Dengan mengimplementasikan kegiatan untuk melatih self-esteem diharapkan siswa memiliki self-esteem yang tinggi terhadap dirinya sendiri dan akan meningkakan self-esteem dirinya terhadap pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Self-esteem is very important because it deals with the number factors of lives, one of them is the success of students in school. Students with high self-esteem tend to be confident in social situations and confident in dealing with the tasks given by the teacher. In addition, students with high self-esteem will naturally retain their curiosity in learning as well as the passion and enthusiasm when faced with new challenges. Conversely, students with low self-esteem actually avoid a situation where the situation has the potential to make him feel embarrassed in front of other people. Students with low self-esteem tend to prefer punished or may be viewed as a hero by his friends than look stupid.

Self-esteem can be trained through several activities during mathematics instruction. By implementing activities to train the self-esteem of students are expected to have high self-esteem towards themselves and will be improved its self-esteem himself to learning mathematics.
