Abstrak

Penelitian yang berjudul analisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika berdasarkan analisis Newman merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan siswa dan penyebabnya pada siswa kelas VIII MTs NU Raden Umar Sa’id Colo Tahun Ajaran 2015 / 2016 dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita materi lingkaran. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode tes, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Pada metode tes,  subjek dihadapkan 3 soal dengan tingkat kesulitan rendah, sedang dan tinggi. Subjek penelitian diambil 3 orang siswa, yang terdiri atas 1 orang siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 1 orang berkemampuan sedang, dan 1 orang berkemampuan rendah yang selanjutnya dilakukan wawancara terkait kesalahan yang dilakukan pada lembar pekerjaannya. Uji keabsahan data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi dan pemeriksaan teman sejawat. Berdasarkan analisis hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa dalam menyelesaikan soal dengan metode Newman , pada kategori soal dengan tingkat kesulitan rendah, kesalahan terbanyak dilakukan pada tahap encoding. Selanjutnya, untuk kategori soal dengan tingkat kesulitan sedang, kesalahan terbanyak terjadi pada tahap encoding dan transformation. Sedangkan kesalahan yang dilakukan pada tipe soal dengan tingkat kesulitan tinggi terjadi pada tahap encoding dan sama banyaknya dengan kesalahan pada tahap process skill. Penyebabnya rata – rata  karena kurang teliti, tidak memahami konsep, dan faktor lupa atau terburu – buru.

Abstract

The study, entitled the analysis of students' mistakes in solving math story is based on the analysis of Newman is a qualitative research. This study aims to determine the type of errors and their causes students in class VIII MTs NU Raden Umar Sa'id Colo Academic Year 2015/2016 in solving the material story circle. The data collection was conducted using tests, interviews and documentation. In the test method, the subject matter is faced with three difficulty levels low, medium and high. The research subject was taken three students, consisting of one person of high ability students, one person capable of being, and one person of their poor performance which further interviews related to the mistakes made on the job sheet. Test the validity of the data is done by triangulation techniques and examination of peers. Based on the analysis of survey results revealed that in solving problems with the method of Newman, in the category of matter with a low degree of difficulty, of errors made at the encoding stage. Furthermore, for the category of questions with moderate difficulty level, an error occurred on the stage of encoding and transformation. While the mistakes made on the type of questions with a high degree of difficulty occurs at the stage of encoding and as many errors at this stage of process skills. The reason the average - average for less conscientious, do not understand the concept, and forgetting factor or hurry.
