ABSTRAK

Rendahnya kemampuan membaca permulaan  dan hasil belajar disebabkan karena siswa kurang aktif dalam pembelajaran khususnya membaca, sehingga dapat mempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa khususnya pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan kartu huruf terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan dan hasil belajar siswa kelas II SD.  Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif berbentuk True Eksperimentaal design dengan jenis Posttest-Only Control Design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas II A dan II B SDN 01 Kalipancur Kabupaten Pekalongan berjumlah 49. Data dalam penelitian diperoleh melalui tes (postest), dokumentasi, dan observasi. Hasil uji t dua pihak kemampuan membaca permulaan dan hasil belajar masingmasing diperoleh thitung = 3,651 dan 2,442. Dari daftar distribusi t dengan dk = 23 + 26 – 2 = 47 dan taraf nyata 5% diperoleh ttabel = 2,014. Karena thitung> ttabel (3,651>2,014) dan (2,442>2.014) maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dapat disimpulkan kemampuan membaca permulaan dan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan media kartu huruf lebih baik dibanding siswa yang mendapat metode konvensional (ceramah).

ABSTRACT

The low reading ability of the beginning and the result of learning is caused because the students are less active in learning especially reading, so it can affect student learning outcomes especially on Indonesian language subjects. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of letter cards to the ability to read the beginning and learning outcomes of students of grade II SD. This type of research is Quantitative in the form of True Eksperimentaal design with Posttest-Only Control Design type. The subjects of this study are class II A and II B SDN 01 Kalipancur Pekalongan Regency amounted to 49. Data in research obtained through the test (postest), documentation, and observation. Result of t test of two side of reading ability of beginning and result of learning each obtained tcount = 3,651 and 2,442. From the distribution list t with dk = 23 + 26 - 2 = 47 and the real level of 5% is obtained ttable = 2.014. Because thitung> ttable (3,651> 2,014) and (2,442> 2,014) then H0 is rejected and Ha accepted. It can be concluded that the ability to read the beginning and learning outcomes of students using letter card media better than students who get the conventional method (lecture).
