Abstract

The ‘Wonolopo’ traditional herbs village is one of the villages in ‘Mijen’ sub-district in Semarang. The village is quite unique, as of more than 6000 people depend their lives on traditional herb commodity as the cornerstone of life. With that being said, the traditional herbs trade is passed down from generation to generation which can keep the purity of its taste. The way of selling this traditional herbs is also unique; it is carried on a person’s back and offered from door to door. It is called ‘Jamu Gendong”. This situation, of course, do not give the positive impact to the people’s income. Due to this, Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS) through the KKN PPM program, proposed to the government (Kemenristekdikti) to be a partner for the ‘Wonolopo’ residents to attempt to increase the overall village economy. The main goal of this plan is to develop this area to be a Thematic Kampong through their  trademark product of traditional herbs. KKN PPM (Pembelajaran dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) UPGRIS, a program which was designed to empower and educate people, will arrange some activities such as : improving the herbs field, producing traditional herbs using modern equipments,  packaging in various model, recycling the waste of  traditional herbs to be developed further as soap, and online marketing. Thus, the goal of increasing the income of  Wonolopo’s people can be achieved through this program.
